     This Homecoming African Family Reunion Tour and the 20th Anniversary of Panafest will lead you to where you can see, explore, and experience major  historical sites in Ghana: Accra, Elmina Castle, Cape Coast, Kumasi,  Asante region, cultural ceremonies, Kente weaving and the numerous other arts, colorful carnival market places and above all, the most friendly people in the world.

     Dr. Clinton Crawford, the tour leader, who has traveled to 8 other African countries, is also the author of Recasting Ancient Egypt in the African Context, 1996. He is a professor at Medgar Evers College of the City University of New York where he teaches the History of African Art among other courses about African civilizations. See Ghana in a way that television or no one else will ever show you.  He loves Ghana.

 ITINERARY

Day 1 July 20 Departure from NYC  in the evening unto Accra, Ghana (meals on flight)

Day 2

July 21

Arrive in Accra me and greet with guide, taken to hotel. Accra is the largest city in Ghana with over 3 million residents. It is bustling city full of commerce and market place with lots of energy and musical sounds.  Overnight in our hotel

Day 3

July 22

City Tour of Accra to Dr. Kwame Nkrumah's Monument and W.E.B. Du Bois Memorial Centre for Pan African  Culture. Travel to Cape Coast by modern air condition bus. Overnight in our hotel B/D

Day 4

July 23

Cape Coast Castle visit in the morning after breakfast. This castle is the largest and most famous of the three edifices which housed captured Africans before they were transported across the Atlantic Ocean....Free Afternoon. Enjoy the beach, surf and people. In the Evening there are lots of 10th Panafest Events TBA  Overnight in our hotel B/D

Day 5

July 24

Visit Elmina Castle and the environs. This is the second largest of three castles on the coast of Ghana situated in the Central region of the country. Visit to Elmina Market place to mingle and shop with your brothers and sisters. 10th Panafest Event. TBA Overnight in our hotel. B/D

Day 6

July 25

Grand Opening Ceremony welcoming Panafest attendees from the Diasopra (Cape Coast Castle). Grand Durbar of Chiefs. The grand Durbar is an stellar event one must have be witness with several paramount chiefs clad in Adinkra cloth and very colorful Kente. The jewelry on these personage is  plentiful and sumptuous. 10th Panafest Event TBA Overnight in our hotel. B/D

Day 7

July 26

Visit to one of two hanging bridges of its kind in the world at Kakum forest National Park. This is an experience we cannot miss. See the pristine rainfall forest as old as time. Crocodile Pond--Hans Cottage.10th Panafest Event TBA Overnight in our hotel.B/D

Day 8

July 27

Early morning journey to Kumasi the seat of the Ashanti Kingdom and home of the Kente weavers, plus the Place of the Asantehene. On the way we will visit Assin Prasso, the river crossing and the path where our ancestors walked before being held in captivity before the horrific holding dungeons and the Atlantic crossing. 10th Panafest Event TBA  Overnight in our hotel

Day 9

July 28

Full day in Kumasi to visit the Museum, Arts and Crafts Village, the Manhyia Palace Museum, possibly meet the Asantehene, See the Yaa Asantewaa's statue and Kente weaving village to get your special kente cloth  and much more.  Go out at night to party. 10th Panafest Event TBA  Overnight in our hotel. Day 10

July 29

 Return to Cape Coast. via  Anomabo Castle and  visit J. W Essel School10th Panafest Event TBA  Overnight in our hotel. B/D

Day 11

July 30-

Early morning journey to the Western Region to visit Nzulezua village on stilts in the river

Day 12

July 31

Free Day/ Redemption March and Candle Light parade.10th Panafest Event TBA Overnight in our hotel.B/D

Day 13

August 1

Emancipation Day Celebration. Early morning Assiin Manso the last Bath and Grand Durbar and lots of fun 10th Panafest Event TBA Overnight in our hotel. B/D

Day 14

August 2

Leave for  Accra. Spend the day shopping and sightseeing. Overnight in our hotel.  B/D

Day 15

August 3

Free Day for last minute shopping and departure for the US. B Meals on Flight

August 4
